This is What's Included

Removable, padded insert

Removable, padded insert

The Mini Eventer includes a removable, padded insert that enables you to turn the bag from a camera bag to a messenger bag in seconds.

The flexible padded insert is made from dense, fabric covered ‘closed cell’ foam and provides impact protection on the front, back, base and sides. Like the bag itself, the insert is a little flexible.

Also included are two large vertical padded dividers and two smaller 'flap' dividers. You can use the vertical dividers to split the bag into columns and the flap dividers to stack gear within those columns. The exact arrangement that is possible for you will depend on the size of your gear.

Leather on the bottom of the bag

Leather on the bottom of the bag

The top-grain leather covering the base and bottom  of the front and back walls increases longevity, as well as creating a luxurious look and feel.

Back pocket with weatherproof zip

Dedicated tablet slip

Dedicated tablet slip

Sewn into the back of the padded insert is a dedicated padded tablet slip, designed to fit an iPad up to 11”.

Dual, weatherproof zip

Dual, weatherproof zip

The main compartment has a dual, weatherproof zip, maintaining protection from the weather even when the main flap isn’t over the bag.

The dual zips allow you to access only part of the bag if you don’t want to open all of the main compartment up.

Luggage trolley strap

Luggage trolley strap

A handy, practical feature that allows you to secure your bag to your luggage when travelling through a busy airport or city.

The luggage trolley retainer strap is just below the opening to the back pocket.

The zips to the main compartment can be tucked behind the front and back walls of the padded insert - allowing you to easily dip in and out of your bag without the zip in the way.

Quick release front straps

Quick release front straps

Quickly open and close your bag using the quick release front straps by simply pushing the front straps up and off the clogballs.

Once the leather softens, you should be able to open the bag one-handed whilst wearing the bag!

The buckles allow you to fine tune the ‘fit’ of the front pockets. You don’t need to use the buckles to open the bag.

Leather under top handle

Leather under top handle

An easy carry top handle is reinforced with fibreglass and has leather on the underside to provide extra comfort when carrying the bag using just the top handle.

Front dump pockets

Internal dimensions

Luggage trolley strap will fit handles approximately 250mm (9⅞") wide - however if the top of the handle is slightly larger than this fitting will usually still be possible.

This bag is smaller and lighter than the Eventer. Additionally:

  • The padded laptop slip (for 13inch MacBooks) in the back of the Eventer padded insert is replaced by a padded tablet slip (for 11inch iPads) in the back of the Mini Eventer padded insert.
  • The Mini Eventer features a luggage trolley retainer strap on the back which the Eventer does not.
  • The Mini Eventer features weatherproof zips. The Eventer features conventional zips.
  • The Mini Eventer features an improved top handle with leather on the underside for increased comfort. The Eventer does not have leather under the handle. Both bags feature fibreglass reinforcement to the handle to reduce stress on the bag when the handle is used.

This bag is a little bigger than the Hadley Small Pro. Additionally:

  • The main compartment of the Mini Eventer closes with a zip and a main flap. The main compartment on the Hadley Small Pro closes with only a main flap. Some users might prefer the Hadley Small Pro as it is slightly quicker to get items in and out of. Other users may prefer the Mini Eventer because they like the idea of zip closure.
  • The Hadley Small Pro has a removable shoulder sling. The shoulder sling on the Mini Eventer is non-removable.
  • The Hadley Small Pro is slightly more flexible - it will mould to your body a little more.
  • The Hadley Small Pro will expand forwards more to fit larger gear if needed. The Mini Eventer is slightly deeper front-to-back but has less ability to expand out further than that's stated internal size.
  • The Hadley Small Pro does NOT have a dedicated padded area for an iPad or tablet - in that bag to store such a device you have to put it between the back of the padded camera insert and the back of the bag (so it is only padded on one side). The Mini Eventer has a dedicated padded tablet area for better protection of those devices.
  • Both bags have the newer top handle with leather underneath.
  • Both bags have weatherproof zips (although the Hadley Small Pro does not have a zip on its main compartment).
  • Both bags have a luggage trolley retainer strap on the back.

This bag is a little smaller than the Hadley Pro 2020. Additionally:

  • The main compartment of the Mini Eventer closes with a zip and a main flap. The main compartment on the Hadley Pro 2020 closes with only a main flap. Some users might prefer the Hadley Pro 2020 as it is slightly quicker to get items in and out of. Other users may prefer the Mini Eventer because they like the idea of zip closure.
  • The Hadley Pro 2020 has a removable shoulder sling. The shoulder sling on the Mini Eventer is non-removable.

Yes these devices would fit in the padded tablet compartment instead of an 11inch iPad very easily.

No. There isn't even a way to squeeze one in. If you want to fit a 13" MacBook we would recommend the Eventer or the Hadley One both of which have dedicated padded 13" laptop compartments.

No, you don't use the buckles to get into this bag. The buckles are only designed to occasionally adjust the front straps in height or to allow you to pack a little more or less into the bag. We recommend keeping the straps inside the buckle during normal use and only using the 'Quick Release Straps'.

For frequent usage, the Mini Evener Front Straps are opened by sliding the top of the strap off the brass clogball (round stud). This is a very quick way to open and close the bag, many people learn to do this one-handed as the leather softens.

You can keep the bag itself open whilst shooting, just don't put the straps back on the clogball until you want to close bag.

Yes. The zips can also be tucked behind the front and back walls of the padded insert when the bag is in use if you expect to take the camera gear in and out of the bag frequently without closing the bag.

No. The fabric is made of 3 layers - the middle layer is butyl rubber. Water cannot pass through this butyl rubber layer. As long as you don't get a hole in the fabric or expose it to harsh chemicals (for example in a washing machine) the fabric should remain waterproof for many years. There is no need to apply re-proofing.

In simple terms ‘Canvas’ or ‘FibreNyte’ refers to top layer of fabric on our bags – the facecloth.

‘Canvas’ is a mix of cotton and polyester. ‘FibreNyte’ refers to our face fabric that is completely synthetic. Canvas is hard wearing, FibreNyte is very hard wearing.

Both fabrics are bonded to a non-wicking polyester backing fabric with a middle layer butyl rubber – this rubber layer makes both fabrics equally (and very) waterproof. Water can’t get through that rubber layer.

Both fabrics have a similar weave - the FibreNyte looks similar to canvas. Canvas is slightly softer to the touch, FibreNyte is slightly rougher to the touch.

People tend to choose Canvas if they want the bag to age gracefully and look vintage over time. This is particularly true of people who chose our ‘Khaki Canvas’ fabric as this looks particularly lovely as it ages.

People tend to choose FibreNyte if they want the bag to look newer for longer or if they are particularly hard on their gear - for example by carrying the bag to work with them every day, doing a lot of hiking or filling it particularly full. If you are buying a black bag it’s particularly worth considering FibreNyte as it will stay looking blacker longer. Also Sage FibreNyte is particularly attractive as a colour – it’s probably the most popular colour among our staff!

The SP50 shoulder pad fits this bag - it is already included in the price so you only need to buy it if you have lost or damaged yours. The SP20 shoulder pad can also fit if needed but isn't included.

Yes this bag comes with a removable padded insert included in the price. You can take the padded insert out if not carrying cameras - this turns the bag into a great casual bag.

It attaches with pop-clips on the front and back of the insert. These match up to clips on the front and back inside walls of the main compartment of the bag.

No. End pockets can not be attached to this bag.
